The first Irish Knight of the Boudin Noir (Black Pudding)
Seán Kelly was the first man in Ireland to be made a Knight of the Boudin Noir which happened during a Civic Reception by County Manager Peter Hynes in Áras an Chontae in Castlebar in 2010. Earlier that day the town of Newport came to a standstill when the Knights of the Boudin Noir from Normandy in France paraded down the main street in full regalia, preceded by a full band. The visit also included a 7 course Kelly’s Pudding Menu at Knockranny House Hotel, especially created by Head Chef Seamus Commons. The Menu was entitled "Salute to the Putóg" and was serenaded by a poem of the same name.
The Pudding Pint gets a Gold Medal
Our innovative entry was literally a pint of Kelly's Black Pudding - in the exact shape and size of a pint of stout. It won a coveted gold award from the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Goute-Boudin, Mortagne-au-Perche, Normandy. 2011
Good Food Ireland Next Generation Award
Cormac and Kenneth Kelly were announced as winners of the “Next Generation” award presented by Good Food Ireland at the K Club in Co. Kildare. The award recognised next generation operators who are striving to follow or exceed in the footsteps of parents growing and developing in the industry. It's good to know Kelly's Butchers is in very safe hands for the future. (September 2009).
Blas na hEireann (National Irish Food Awards)
Kelly’s Black in White Pudding and the new Lamb Sausage with Redcurrants are both Blás na hEireann gold medal winners.
Great Taste Awards
The Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards are known as the 'food Olympics' and over the years our products have done extremely well. Kelly's White in Black Pudding has a 2 star award and Kelly's White Pudding and Dry Cured Rashers both boast 1 star awards.
